ADE programmes run across the city through five October nights, and a guest often has a gap between an early showcase and a late set. Nara fills that gap, arriving while the guest is back in his room to change and leaving him time to head out again. She speaks Lithuanian and English and is quick to read whether a guest wants conversation or quiet. Soapy and nuru sessions fit a room that is about to be left again, and she settles at the start what hers will include. At twenty-three she has the stamina the week asks for and the good sense to hold her own limits.

Nara decides which bookings she takes and may decline any of them; she sets the limits for what a session includes, says what they are, and may end a visit at any point, as the terms set out.
