Writing to The Amsterdam Calendar
Everything is agreed in writing, and on an event date that is more than a matter of style. A booking made a month before the trip has to survive the journey, and a thread keeps the date, the hour, the address and the figure where both sides can read them again.
A first message for an event date is complete when it holds these five things:
- The date, and the event if it is one, so the reply can say at once whether the peak rule applies.
- The hour you want her at the door, by the Amsterdam clock.
- The length, from one hour to the eight hour overnight.
- The district and the hotel or apartment, or a note that the room is not booked yet.
- A name from the roster, or two, or a word about the evening you have in mind.
The reply confirms the name, the figure, the hour and the deposit. Nothing is held and nothing is owed until you answer that reply. There is no form to fill in, no account to open and no card number typed into a web page.
Writing from another time zone
Most event bookings start abroad, weeks before the flight. Give every time in Amsterdam time and say so in the message, because a booking made from across the Atlantic for King's Day evening is easy to get wrong by six hours. If your travel changes, write in the same thread: one move of date is free when asked more than twenty-four hours ahead, to a date within fourteen days, and the deposit travels with it. What the thread is for
It answers about women, formats, dates, lengths and payment. It cannot tell you what a particular hotel allows, cannot find you a room during a sold-out week, and will not contact anyone on your behalf.
